    As Head of Operations, you'll be trusted to:

    Lead the Operational Team to Achieve Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Goals

    You will lead a team of 2-3 managers and 10-12 people to meet and exceed our shipping and receiving goals. Training and motivating the team will be very important, and rigorously analyzing operational metrics is vital to this role. This position is perfect for someone who gets energy from thinking hard about how to solve problems, then leading people towards a goal and achieving it.

    Craft Department Strategy & Optimize Spending

    Our operations department has a variety of expenses such as freight, labor, materials, machinery, etc. You’ll be trusted to help the company maximize return on investment with this large, crucial spending budget. You’ll also be responsible for optimizing the warehouse space plan to maximize our daily throughput.

    Plan for Future Growth

    Demand for our company’s operational services is extremely high and we believe there is huge potential for growth. You’ll analyze and recommend future space acquisitions, hiring plans, equipment purchases and more as we scale up the company’s operations to reach its potential.

    About the Warehouse Working Environment and Physical Job Nature:

    Maxton & Company is located in a warehouse-type environment. Our functions are similar to a warehouse or manufacturing facility with light machinery. The warehouse is an open space that can be cold and sometimes cluttered on days with lots of inbound shipments. Lots of movement and time spent on your feet is involved, as well as lifting boxes up to 50 lbs, moving pallets, and unloading of trucks or other delivery vehicles. Expect an open space that may not have the typical amenities of an office or suite. Typical warehouse attire will be expected for this environment, however no specific dress code is required.

    Job Requirements:

    • 2+ years experience leading an operational team of at least 8-10 people including having other supervisors as direct reports.

    • Leadership experience in a warehouse or stockroom environment.

    • Demonstrated history of success in previous roles, as measured by key performance indicators and past promotions.

    • Strong quantitative reasoning skills.

    • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

    As an Assistant Operations Manager, you'll be trusted to:

    Supervise & Lead Daily Operations - You will play a major part in our daily operations when it comes to receiving, sorting, labeling, packing, and shipping all the products coming through our doors. You’ll work closely with the other supervisors & managers as well as the team performing our daily operations to plan for labor needs, prepare all products for processing, and do what it takes to get the shipments out for the day in a timely and efficient manner. You will be managing a team of 6-8 people daily with a wide range of tasks to be performed from production to use of light machinery. Motivating, training, and inspiring the team to execute tasks daily will be very important. You will help the team in working smart and efficiently, while making sure the process in running smoothly and help to implement goals for your team as the business needs change. This role is perfect for someone who likes to be constantly moving, organizing, cleaning, and problem solving while figuring out what could be improved upon each day.

    Make Detailed Decisions -

    You will help lead the production strategy for the various products each day, as well as create shipments within the Amazon system and compare rates for shipping parcel vs. freight. To succeed in this role you will need to recognize shipping and routing patterns, and be able to make quick decisions on the most cost efficient way for products to be shipped. Once shipping methods are determined, coordinating freight and ground pick ups as well as printing BOLs and shipping labels and keeping record of these documents will be an important part of the daily role. You will be responsible for making sure the correct product labels are used, and the correct carton labels are put on each box whether they are being shipped parcel or freight.. You’ll ensure that all shipments coming through the door are checked in and inspected for damages or shorts. Getting them processed and out the door to Amazon fulfillment centers as quickly as possible is important while taking note of ways to improve the efficiency and quality of the operation.

    As you train and provide constructive feedback to team members, you are consistently kind and knowledgeable about their working styles and ideas. You don't mind repeating yourself and being clear about goals and processes to make sure that everyone receives consistent and equal treatment. Being able to adapt your communication style to help everyone learn and grow is very important as the team can have a wide range of backgrounds and working styles. Your team members may have worked here longer than you, so it is important to respect their ideas while being able to make sure they listen and respect your ideas as well.

The processes you execute will help to ensure that we deliver outstanding quality and perfection in every area of the operation, from receiving, to labeling, to shipping so the end product leaves the customer happy and wanting to order again.

    We are a small company with goals that are always evolving and changing, so anything that is needed to be done in order to keep the process going will be expected of you. You will need to be able to plan and shift the team's direction based on the needs of that particular day.
